Our Team Joins Nā Kama Kai at Pokai Bay
At KaiAloha Supply, our mission is rooted in a deep love for the ocean and a commitment to the next generation of its stewards. This past Saturday, March 7th, that mission took us to the shores of Pokai Bay for another incredible Nā Kama Kai Ocean Safety & Conservation Awareness Clinic.
Our Oahu team members, Alaina and Lauren, were on the ground to support this vital community event. Since 2008, Nā Kama Kai (Children of the Sea) has been dedicated to empowering Hawaii’s youth through ocean-based programs. These clinics are more than just a day at the beach; they are a cultural immersion that teaches keiki how to safely and respectfully interact with the kai (ocean).
Lessons from the Sea

The day was filled with energy as keiki aged 2 to 18 participated in various rotations designed to build confidence and ocean awareness. From learning the basics of ocean safety and environmental conservation to getting hands-on experience with:
-
Canoe Paddling & Sailing: Connecting with traditional Hawaiian voyaging.
-
Stand-Up Paddling & Surfing: Building physical confidence and balance.
-
Ocean Safety: Understanding currents, waves, and how to stay safe while having fun.
Seeing the smiles on the faces of the keiki as they caught their first wave or paddled a canoe for the first time is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do. By fostering this connection early, we aren’t just teaching safety, we’re nurturing a lifelong sense of kuleana (responsibility) for our marine environments (Photo courtesy of Samantha Danner).
Community in Action

Events like these are only possible through the collective effort of dedicated volunteers and community partners. Alaina (featured in the image above) and Lauren had a wonderful time connecting with the families and the incredible crew at Nā Kama Kai who work tirelessly to keep these programs free and accessible to all (Photo courtesy of Samantha Danner).
