Celebrating 10 Years of Hui O Ka Wai Ola
At KaiAloha Supply, our hearts are completely tied to the ocean. It’s our playground, our sanctuary, and the very lifeblood of our island home. That’s why, when we look out at the beautiful waters along Maui’s coastlines, we are endlessly grateful for the people who dedicate their time to making sure our ocean stays healthy, vibrant, and alive.
This year marks a massive milestone for one of our favorite community organizations. Hui O Ka Wai Ola is officially celebrating 10 years of dedicated water quality monitoring!
Over the past decade, this incredible group of community scientists and well-trained volunteers has collected over 10,000 water samples along Maui’s coastlines. Working under a strict, quality-assured plan, they’ve generated free, publicly available data that helps scientists, resource managers, and our entire island community understand exactly what’s happening in our nearshore waters so we can protect our fragile coral reef ecosystems.
When Hui O Ka Wai Ola reached out to us to collaborate on a special keepsake for their upcoming Volunteer Appreciation Event on June 8 (World Ocean Day!), we knew we had to jump on board.
Walking the Walk for Ocean Health
To truly "walk the walk" for water quality and stay dedicated to protecting our marine environment, we wanted to ensure these commemorative pieces were completely eco-conscious (Image courtesy of Mariana Markouizos).
With that in mind, our production team went to work and sourced a premium, custom Turkish Cotton Beach Towel. Crafted entirely from 100% natural cotton fibers, these custom towels prevent harmful microplastics from ever entering our precious waterways while delivering that beautiful, high-quality feel KaiAloha Supply is known for.
To honor a decade of service and show our immense gratitude for the volunteers keeping our waters safe, we wanted to make a meaningful contribution to the cause. KaiAloha Supply proudly stepped up to donate 100 custom cotton beach towels to the project, ensuring the volunteers could be fully celebrated without straining the organization's active research funds.
Mahalo to the Volunteers!

These limited-edition towels will be gifted to the dedicated volunteers at the Volunteer Appreciation Event on June 8, 2026. Hui O Ka Wai Ola will also be offering a limited quantity of them through upcoming outreach events and online as a gift incentive for high-tier donations, with 100% of the proceeds going right back into funding this vital community science program.
To Liz, Alana, Jess, and the entire 'ohana at Hui O Ka Wai Ola— congratulations on 10 beautiful years of protecting Maui Nui's coastal waters. Mahalo for letting us play a small part in your milestone, and thank you for helping care for the ocean that supports us all.
