Third Adopt-A-Highway Cleanup

As ocean lovers, we know that protecting our waters starts long before the shoreline. Rain and wind carry roadside litter directly through storm drains and right onto our reefs and beaches. That’s why KaiAloha Supply made a formal two-year commitment to the Adopt-A-Highway program, pledging to host four major road cleanups every year.

This past weekend, our crew returned to the pavement to officially complete our third cleanup of the year!

Led by Team Kihei

This quarter's event was proudly spearheaded by Makena, store manager at our Kihei location, who rallied the crew to take on our designated stretch of highway (Image courtesy of Makena Carter).

While the sunshine was out in full force, the team showed up with high energy and serious dedication to mālama ʻāina (caring for the land).

"It was pretty fun and very hot, lol! Honestly, I was expecting there to be so much trash, especially after the recent storm, but it wasn't bad at all," shared Makena.

Cleaner Roads Means Safer Oceans

Past cleanups have proven just how much debris can pile up along Maui’s highways. Both Nalani (store manager at Cannery) and Marcus (store manager at Whalers Village) noted that our previous sessions were significantly heavier, proving that our ongoing presence along this stretch of road is truly making a visible difference (Image courtesy of Makena Carter)!

Equipped with high-vis vests, trash grabbers, and heavy-duty bags, our team picked up lingering plastic bottles, packaging, and micro-debris before they had the chance to wash down into the ecosystem.

Three Down, One More to Go!

Completing our third cleanup marks another major milestone in our two-year pledge. Watching our retail teams step out of the stores and onto the roads together is what KaiAloha Supply is all about— turning our love for the ocean into direct action for our community and environment (Image courtesy of Makena Carter).

A huge mahalo to Makena for leading the charge, to Nalani and Marcus for bringing their experience, and to every single team member who came out to sweat, smile, and pick up trash under the Maui sun.

We’re officially three-quarters of the way through our goals for this year and can’t wait to wrap up our final 2026 cleanup soon!
